I recently moved from using a PC to a MacBook Pro 14. The laptop is still connected to a bunch of displays and peripherals so I wanted to have a nice stand for it. But from a simple laptop stand, I eventually got to making the HexaHive Stand for MacBook.
The HexaHive Stand has the following features:
- Perfect angle for having the screen at 90 degrees when open.
- Raises the laptop to a comfortable height which helps with correct posture (Screen base is at 27cm)
- It’s sturdy and stable, to keep your laptop safe during use.
- Wire management openings in the base, to route the cables easily and keep your desk tangle-free.
- Designed to be fully compatible with both MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16, but it can work with similar laptops too.
- Can be 3D printed with no supports.
- Ready for future upgrades that can be attached to the hexagons.
Recommended print settings:
- Material: PLA
- Layer height: 0.3mm
- Number of walls: 3
- Infill: 10%
- Nozzle temperature: 205C
- Bed temperature: 60C
- Print speed: 50 mm/s
With these settings, the print will take less than 24 hours to print and you will use about 700 grams of filament.
I chose to make it big and heavy, but you can use different settings to minimize material use. Two walls with no infill should work just as well, but I did not test those settings yet.
The model can be purchased from Cults and MyMiniFactory, but it is also given away as a Patreon reward on higher tiers.
